Hot Job Listings for 2006!
By Paul Megan

Millions will be looking for job listings in 2006. It’s a big help to know where the most openings occur.

Why?

Well, if you’re new to the job market . . . or this is your first job . . . of it’s time for you to get serious about making a change . . . then understanding where your are likely to find job openings can help you focus.

Even if you have no direct expertise in these careers, there are opportunities for transferable skills. These are your work-related capabilities and assets that have application no matter where you work. These would include managing, accounting, factory work, warehousing, consulting, finances, sales, etc.

According to recent reports here are the six areas where you can expect to find an above average number of openings:

1. Medical Assistance. The exploding health care industry simply doesn’t have enough certified talent to go around. So there are unique opportunities to break into this industry if you’re able to show how you can translate your capabilities into a response to employer needs.

2. Teaching. Because of the critical shortage, if you ever had a dream about becoming a teacher at any level the are fast lane certification programs to get you into the classroom ASAP. If you fancy yourself a teacher be prepared to think outside the traditional classroom.

3. Pharmacy Work. While it takes years to get the required degree and be certified as a pharmacist, there is an amazing array of technical support jobs that require only a minimum of technical training.

4. Retail Sales. The holiday season is a terrific time to break into retail sales on a part-time basis. Many of these jobs are converted into full-time after the holidays. Moreover, because the turnover is high, employers are offering flextime schedules and huge employee discounts, especially if your friendly and like being helpful to customers.

5. Consulting. Opportunities for corporate consulting are especially good in cost control and information technology. Local government and non-profits are using significantly more consultants to cut payroll costs.

6. Self-employment. If you like to be in control of your time and income, maybe this is the time to consider an entrepreneurial venture. But if you’re not quite ready for your own business you can achieve a similar independence by working for a temp agency.

This is an incredibly good time to be in the job marketplace if you focus your attention on employment areas where you have a much better chance of landing a job.

How You Can Find Freelance Writing Employment
By Niall Cinneide

How can you find writing jobs? Do you have proven skills that can propel you in the right direction? If so, then why are you looking for fresh vacancies? The best tool to those who have employment histories is to look to the companies that you have already worked for. There, they can help provide you with more work, or point you in the right direction.

There are many careers in which you need a good education to do well. This one is no different. Employment, freelance or with a company, is available to those who have a proven track record. For those that do not, though, they will have to prove themselves in other ways. It may be necessary to take on a proofreading career in order to get your foot in the freelance door. Or, you may find that editing is not helping you and therefore look for opportunities in other related fields. If you want to be a published author, you may have to start by doing copy for websites first. You must build your experience, then you will have the opportunities that you didn’t have before.

Vacancies in this field are rarely easy to get. You may be able to write an article or two that gets published, but it is not easy to get regular writing employment. You will need to establish yourself first. With a solid education and a solid set of experienced references, you will find it easier to find the jobs that you have been looking for. Without this though, you will have to take whatever openings are available until you find your way past that sealed door. However, as soon as you crack it you are likely to find a range of suitable jobs. Then, all the lowly work will be well worth it.

How Can You Find Freelance Work As A Writer?
By Niall Cinneide

For those looking at the jobs listings for writers, they may find themselves feeling left out. There are simply not enough employment options available.

When you are looking at the jobs listings, you may become frustrated and annoyed with the lack of the type of employment that you want. But, if you think differently, you may just find an excellent opportunity. It may help to open doors for you later on down the line as well. Isn’t that worth it?

Here are some ideas for you to consider.

* Think outside the box! You can find freelance work in strange places and in the most obvious. Opportunities may be available at the local newspapers, television studios, or at the local school.

* Businesses may not need a full time freelancer, but they may need someone to write ads and copy for their business. Those who have online businesses also need copy written for their websites.

* Probably the best way to find the employment vacancies that you want is to look online. There is always a need for good qualified journalists and others around the country. You can work right online in some cases.

No matter what type of writing you do, appreciating the possibility of any form of employment in the field is necessary. While it may not be exactly what you want, it can still be a good opportunity nonetheless.

For those looking for something specific, it is wise to search out these opportunities individually by presenting yourself directly with the company you want to work with. In any fashion, employment like this is hard to find.
